GCEE 2021

Nowadays, the level of global awareness about the quality of environment and its impacting changes to the society has increased sharply. Various kinds of activities in anticipating intense global warming throughout the world, methods in attaining efficiency and energy use, are some efforts in minimizing environmental damage. Construction industry plays a major contribution on campaigns to anticipate global warming. Stakeholders related to the construction industry, including building owners, planner, builder, operator, and residents, as well as academia and researchers play their roles as construction service agent to minimize the negative impacts on environment.
The concept known as Green Construction demands all actors in the industry to pay high attention to environment aspects. All parties should have to follow the sustainable and green principles, codes, and regulations, starting from the planning stage, use of materials, development stage, operation, to the maintenance periods. The 3rd International Conference on Green Construction and Environmental Engineering will be held to be a sharing forum. All academia, researchers, and students are invited to share their experiences in answering the challenges. The conference, as continuation of previous conference, will cover the following topics: green materials, green construction methods and technologies, sustainable techniques in buildings and infrastructures, geopolymer and its application, infrastructure maintenance and repair, sanitation system and technology options, sustainable technology for water and wastewater treatment, green building, water resources management, and solid-hazardous waste management.

Civil Engineering Department was established in 1965 as part of Faculty of Technical Teacher Training (Fakultas Keguruan Teknik or FKT), Institute of Teacher Training and Education (IKIP), Malang. When FKT was converted into the Faculty of Technology and Vocational Education (Fakultas Pendidikan Teknologi dan Kejuruan of FPTK) in 1981, the Civil Engineering Department then became Department of Building Engineering Education. In 1997, IKIP Malang was given wider mandate to become a full university and it was followed by some changes in all faculties and schools. FPTK then changed to become Faculty of Engineering (Fakultas Teknik or FT) which consists of four departments: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Industrial Technology. Since 2011, the Civil Engineering Department has three undergraduate study programs (civil engineering, building engineering education, and diploma for civil engineering) and one master program in civil engineering at graduate school.

As one of global partnerships approach, since 2013 the Civil Engineering Department FT-UM develop a long-term cooperation with Indonesia-Malaysia Geo-polymer Society, University of Malaysia Perlis, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Petra Christian University, and KORIGI (Konsorsium Riset Geo-polymer Indonesia). Under this cooperation, some research activities, joint seminars, and international conferences had been held regularly.
